kamenge's genius

i'm continuing to give spanish classes, and since last week there has been a new student who seems to know the language very well (better than me). he knows all the accents by heart and what each single word we find in the book means. today i asked him why and he said he has always liked spanish and he has learnt it alone, by cassettes and books. but i don't trust him: he knows even the words less used, those which i have never heard of during my six months in the university of madrid, those which you are supposed to tell once or twice in your life even if you was born and has always lived in spain . there is only one explication: he has studied by heart all the vocabulary, from a to z. maybe he is a genius.
