Travels travels travels
The work is about to finish, and i travel a much as i can before leaving.
Last week my parents came and rented a car; i joined them for some days and I had the chance to visit some nature after so many towns. We went first to Capadokia, and even though i had already been there i really liked it again, and with the car (which moreover was a 4 wheel drive) we went to places where not many tourists go. Then we went to a little area under Konya, whith nice valley forests and rocks (and no tourists!), where we got lost a lot of times. Then we went to Egirdir and the lakes region, where there are a lot of lakes (some huge) and nice landscapes as well: we visited a park aound a little lake in the middle of the forest and a narrow canyon with a little river with transparent water and pools where to swim; there we visited also Sagalassos ruins, not very big but very interesting because also because the archeologists offer a guided tour to the few visitors, which of course it's the best way to enjoy the visit. Then we went to Afyon, a baeutiful town with a fortress, nice mosques (one made of decorated wood!, marvellous) and restored octoman houses, and to the Phrigian valleys, which reminds of Capadokia: of course all is smaller and there are nopainted curches, but rocks and nature are as beautiful as in Capadokia, and there are no tourists at all. There we got a hole in a wheel. Then we went to Denizli, and we visited Ierapolis: for me it was the second time but we were lucky because some friends of my parents knew one of the italian archeologists who are digging now the site so that we could get a free guided tour by him (and it was so better than the normal guided tour i got the first time i was there).
In Denizli i left my parents, who went to the coast, and i took a bus to Izmir to say goodbye to an italian friend who works there and who i won't see anymore in Turkey. I was a bit sick (in the morning i ate drank a glass of bad milk) and the temperature was above 40 degrees - it's impressive how the temperature changes between the internal Anatolian plateau, so much fresher, and the coast. So we just stayed seated in a bar and talked, but at the end of the day however i was exhausted. The night i took a bus to Istambul where i arrived the morning after; i couldn't manage to sleep a lot because there was a screaming/crying child! In Istambul i met the Istambul friends and spent the day with them and said goodbye to those i won't see anymore in Turkey. At night i took an other bus to Ankara and now i'n here, happy to have a confortable sofa all for me (i don't have a bed because the new volunteers got the beds, as they are supposed to live here and i'm just a guest since the official end of my work was some days ago).
Hopefully i'm going to eastern Turkey in the next days :)
