East (last travel)

Last travel was to east: Kayseri, Djarbakir, Batman (written like that:), Mardin (almost Syria border), Hasankeyf, Van, Dogubayazit (almost Iran border). Nice cities (Kayseri and Djarbakir, but above all Mardin), beautiful villages (Hasankeyf, on steep rocky mountains facing Tigris river), a huge lake with a castle (Van) and a 13th century decorated armenian churche on a island (Van again), marvellous mountainous landscapes (always Van), an amazing 16 th cenury palace in the mountains (Dogubayazit). Sometimes we hitchhiked, sometimes we took a bus. We were five, but hitchhiking was not a problem: often we just stayed one on the other, occupying in five (plus bags) the space of three, and people collecting us were happy all the same.
