beaches

yesterday we went to lake tanganika. lake tanganika, one of the biggest of the world, is jest ten minutes from bujumbura city center. there are some nice beaches, with sand, bars and beach volley fields. all aound there are the high mountains of congo and burundi (some are 3000 metres high), and uvira, a town at the border between burundi and congo, is ten minutes by boat (and you can see it from here). it's a wonderful place, if only there was peace, and tourists could come and enjoy it. by now, we are the only ones to do that, together with some rich local people. i went on a tour in a pyrogue as well, the little boats used by fishermen: no engine, just arms to move. but they are fastest than they appear. it was nice!
in the south there are other beutiful beaches, but due to the instability of the political stuation it's better not to go.
