Parte 3 - in camper in Turchia

misunderstanding

the projects in progress nowadays are not giving the expected outcomes. instead, it seems to me from what i see every day, that there is a lot of misunderstanding among us and local workers. every day there is a new problem to deal with, like we are not able to follow their mentality and way of working, and the opposite as well. they always say yes, even if they know they can not do what you are asking them. you are the rich one, and then the aim is not carry on the project but getting as much money as possible from you. these are my feelings after one month work. maybe it depends on our ngo, and on the people we chose to work with, but a bad opinion about burundi people is quite widespread among foreign cooperants here. and also my experience tells that there is such a huge cultural and economical difference that establishing a relation of mutual tust and respect is really difficult. that's why i fell a little unconfortable in doing what i'm doing, because first you should brake that barrier, and i do not have the necessary skills.
